4 Tips to Drink More Water

Ok we all know that most of us should be drinking more water right. But drinking water is hard, and boring, I know. Some of us (me) actually like drinking water, some of us just forget to drink it, and others well, they would rather just not drink.

While there are lots of ideas out there what I’ve consistently seen is to aim for drinking at least half your body weight in water each day.

To start, figure out how much water you are actually drinking right now, it may be unrealistic for you do get up to half your body weight... but overtime that can be your end goal.

Here are 4 Tips to help you drink more water, it’s great for your overall health and your skin and it's an easy way to help keep you healthier.

TIP 1

One of the easiest ways to help you drink more water is to always have water with you. Grab a cool water bottle (and preferably a safe, non-plastic one) and keep it with you.

Here are a few that I like, I tend to go with stainless steel vs glass because my water bottles tend to get tossed around, fall out of my car, and stolen by my kids ;) Get a vacuum insulated bottle if you prefer your water cold, this will keep it cold and refreshing all day long!

TIP 2

Sometimes half the battle is remembering to drink water. In addition to the physical reminder of carrying a bottle with you here are a few more ideas:

  1. Leave a glass (or closed container) of water next to your bed, drink it first thing in the morning and/or before you go to bed

  2. Coffee drinkers, go one for one - for each 8oz cup of coffee you consume match it with 8oz of water

  3. Every time you pass the office kitchen or water cooler get a glass of water

  4. Techies may find the Plant Nanny app fun, log a glass of water and watch your plant grow and flourish

  5. Set a reminder on your phone or calendar to drink water

  6. Splurge on a water bottle that tracks how much you drink - https://amzn.to/2vmMKi0 or add this gadget to any water bottle to help automatically track your water intake https://amzn.to/2JPw71k

TIP 3

Still struggling with drinking enough, try a straw. But not one of the plastic ones that are filling up our landfills, get a set of stainless steel or silicone ones that you can use in any cup!

TIP 4

Jazz up your water to help you drink more - add fruit, veggies or herbs. Remember when you add fruit or veggies to your water you need to clean your bottle regularly or you'll get mold.

  • Lemon Mint

  • Watermelon Basil

  • Orange, Lemon, Lime

  • Cucumber

  • Cucumber Lime

  • Strawberry Basil

If you don't like having stuff floating in your water you can make it in a pitcher or get a bottle that allows you to do it easier.
