Homemade Coconut Oil and Shea Butter Lotion Bars

IMG_6989

Last night I decided to make homemade coconut oil and shea butter lotion bars. A coworker encouraged me to make these, I didn't actually need much  coaxing, she said "Do you know where to get shea butter, I want to make lotion bars" and I said, "Oh I have shea butter and wanted to make them for awhile, send me your recipe and I'll make them tonight."  And I did! I used the recipe from Wellness Mama - but skipped the Vitamin E and played around with adding a bunch of essential oils at … [Read more...]

New resource – THRIVE Market

Thrive order

I'm always looking for ways to make things easier, and I've been working on changing over everything to be more natural.  Winter is a tough time for fresh produce and local famers markets, but the TRHIVE market place is a great place to purchase your non-perishables at a discount.  It's being described as Costco + Whole Foods - since it's membership based (you pay $60/year for access to the marketplace) but the discounts will pay for themselves in your first few orders. Another cool thing, … [Read more...]

Making Sleeping Better with essential oils

IMG_6663

So I've had my essential oils for a bit now and I'm working on integrating them into my life.  I'm working on replacing many of the toxins that I encounter by finding a natural solution.  Many of the things marked "natural" on the label, aren't really, but aren't all that much better. Here are two things that I'm using regularly - I made these roller balls - which took all of 2 minutes each.  The roller ball allows you to put the oils on directly, in an easy and mess free way. I use … [Read more...]

Natural Care Products, Cleaning Supplies, and More

Put in muffin cups and tied with yarn!

You've probably noticed the trend in my posts here on and Facebook the past year and a half or so, and how I've been trending towards cleaning up my personal care products and cleaning products.  Once I had my food cleaned up and under control, I guess it makes sense that I started to look at other areas of my life that I could improve.  Knowing how dramatic a difference changing to clean eating made for my life, energy, health, and athletic performance - if you can clean up other areas of … [Read more...]

Natural toilet cleaner

IMG_6090.JPG

I'm not a fan of cleaning, but like to have a clean house. Once you stumble into the nutrition world it's easy to then start to expand your research into not only what you put in your body, but what you put on it and what's around you in your environment. I was especially interested in this while I was pregnant, changing my make-up, lotion, deodorant, sunscreen, toothpaste...lots of stuff. I also started looking into cleaning products and switching to things that were more natural, especially if … [Read more...]

Homemade Paleo Chocolate

IMG_5942-0.JPG

I'm doing the Relentless Transformation 5.0 with Roger Dickerman of Relentless Fitness and about 50 others and am using it to clean up some things that have sneaked into my diet. That aren't terrible but aren't really great either (hey, I'm human!). One of those things is chocolate, if I stuck to eating the 85% that I have at home that would be no big deal but I've been eating a lot if chocolate chips (not that great) mixed with salted pistachios they are my go to snack of choice. Last week … [Read more...]

These shoes are made for walking

Tretorn Shoes Navy_side

Now that I"m back at work, I'm working on my wardrobe again.  I'm lucky enough to work in an environment where I can dress casually, and have a sit-to-stand desk that is awesome!  I also have access to a treadmill desk that I use throughout the day - the tricky thing here then is shoes.  It's one thing to wear a pair of sneakers on my commute, but constantly changing shoes throughout the day is annoying.  So I started looking for a pair of casual shoes that work for walking on the treadmill … [Read more...]

Food this week

IMG_5841-0.JPG

I've got a few post planned in draft status but am still trying to figure out life and schedule now that I'm back at work. Priorities after work are seeing Miles, eating good food, working out and sleep. So blogging doesn't quite fit yet! Here's a quick post on what I've been eating this week. If you'd like to see more like this let me know! Also look me up in FB Laura Pappas Health Coaching it's easy to post photos and thoughts there so that is a bit more up to date. Ok breakfasts this week. … [Read more...]

Easy Green Baked Egg Breakfast

Breakfast is served!

I'm a fan of easy, and quick, especially when it comes to breakfast.  I'm usually rushed in the morning, trying to squeeze in as much sleep as I can.  Now with my little guy (who is already 2 months old!) I have trouble finding the time to make food.  So I saw this recipe via my blog feed from Mark's Daily Apple - Baked Eggs with Creamy Spinach. I usually make another version of a baked egg dish, that I call an egg cassarole, but was looking for another option. I've been eating this all … [Read more...]

Homemade Almond Milk

pile-of-roasted-almonds

Do you buy almond milk from the store?  My husband loves to make smoothies with almond milk but we don't really use it for much else. I decided that rather than spend the $4 on it and get a product that I'm not thrilled about because of the additional additives and emulsifiers that they add to keep the product fresh. I have read that it's easy to make your own, but just have never done it.  So I was inspired to try it.  It is SUPER easy and now something that I do weekly.  My recipe makes … [Read more...]
